I've done this but had issues saving to an SD card that had older footage from version 0.3.2 on it. After I tried the new software version and had issues I reinserted the old card, but I couldn't save to the SD storage card. It would tell me "file already exists, rename and try again" when I tried to save. Removing the SD card with the old video files on it and replacing with a blank USB key solved the problem.

I put together a compilation of some of my Chronos 1.4 footage, with all the new 2.1 clips out lately I thought we needed some representation from the 1.4 crowd 
frame rates range from 1500 fps for a lot of the wildlife shots, to 20-40k for the projectiles and explosions. There is some phenomenal research-grade footage to be captured with this camera, I hope you enjoy these few clips!

Kron Tech posted something a couple years ago about export controls limiting how high they can go with the frame rates. However from what I can find for Canada and the US only cameras capable of more than 225,000 fps are export controlled, and in the EU it appears to be over 1,000,000 fps.
The issue is that to get higher frame rates (with the 1.4 at least), a feature needs to be added to allow smaller vertical frame sizes than 96 pixels. By doing so, they may open the door to frame rates over the magic number. I suspect implementing a hard limit once that feature is added is tricky, but I could be wrong.
I could also see, and this is pure conjecture on my part, the US or Canadian government deciding that once that feature is added the camera would be "capable of being easily re-programmed" to achieve higher frame rates than 225,000. That could be a legal can of worms Kron Tech doesn't want to open as the US export market is probably vital to them.
I hope I'm wrong as I've also been patiently waiting for higher frame rates on my 1.4!

From what I understand the sensor is quite a bit larger and more expensive. The 1.4 sensor has 88 pins while the 2.1 has 203 pin output, so the circuit board would be different, more complex. Larger pixels in addition to higher pixel count which should result in better low light performance.
I suspect the pricing also factors in all the additional R&D put into the 1.4 cameras, assuming the same will be needed on the 2.1. My 3 year old camera is still getting updates and the feature set continues to expand; I can see that $$$ needing to come from somewhere, and perhaps kron tech is pricing this into the 2.1 cameras.
The operating system is also being redesigned - I remember reading about a different programming language needing to be used in the new one so that is probably costing more $$$ as well. Just guessing on the software stuff, though.

Software Dev / 2.1 / 1.4 frame rates

I was looking at the data sheet for the 2.1 and noticed the frame rates on the 2.1 are a fair bit ahead of the 1.4 at higher resolutions, but as horizontal resolution drops the 1.4 takes the lead. For example at 1280x720 the 2.1 gets 2,100 fps to the 1.4's 1,500, however at minimum resolution (320x96)the 2.1 hits 26,000 fps while the 1.4 goes all the way to 40,000.
Is this due to a different architecture of the sensor or the software? Do you expect that updates to the 2.1 will allow full bandwidth at smaller horizontal resolutions?
I'm very pleased that the 1.4 is able to increase frame rates all the way down to 320 pixels from the initial 640. You guys are doing an awesome job on the software support front.
*(I also think there is a mistake in the 2.1 chart. 1440x1080 and 1440x720 show 2.24 gigapixels/s)

Seeing the improved brighter screen on the 2.1, would the new LCD be compatible with the 1.4? I'd love a brighter screen on mine, if it were possible to upgrade.

Hi Kron Tech,
If I want to film the arc from a stick welder, should I use a welding shade in front of the lens? I'm concerned the brightness and UV radiation might damage the sensor. I would have the shutter at a very small angle but I realize since it's an electronic shutter, the sensor will still be exposed to the intense UV light the whole time.

Your footage is amazing! Did you follow the first rocket manually or do you have a jig with some kind of actuator that pans the camera?
Here are two videos I took off of my set up filming rockets at the Spaceport Americas Cup. This one pitches and follows the rocket and shoots at the default 1,057 fps.

I'm impressed with the performance of the CHronos cameras. They ran about 10 hours in 107F/40C temperatures and had no difficulty with them at all.

I haven't been following these threads but just looking at the black/white layout with small font hurts my eyes... I hope you'll keep the buttons gray with bold writing. It looks much cleaner IMO.
I do like the big numeric keypad with the microsecond and millisecond keys for changing exposure and frame rate. This will help.

How hard would it be to allow the user to select which buttons we want and how they're arranged? For example, I will typically shoot in one location for several hours, so I don't need the WB button to be on the main screen. However, I'm always changing resolutions and frame rates, so I like the black cal button to be on the main screen as I use it all the time. But other users might have a different work flow.
Trying to find a one-size-fits-all UI will be tough as everyone works differently; customization will alow you to keep everyone happy.
Having all the buttons on each screen by default, then allowing the user to remove the buttons they don't need frequently and make them accessible through a "menu" button would work well.
I think the seek bar should be customizeable as well - either at the bottom or on the right. Some users shoot with a 4:3 or square frame (scientific applications) and for them the seek bar on the right gives more real estate for the video frame. I mostly shoot in letterbox type frames so a seek bar on the bottom would work for me, but again, not for everyone.
As for the jog wheel, in the playback menu it has a function, maybe in the record menu it could be clicked to switch between exposure and frame rate, then rotated to change these? with perhaps press and turn for faster changes?
Alternatively, for users with gloves the jog wheel could be assigned strictly to cycling between buttons by turning, and pressing buttons by pressing. This would allow use without the touch screen.

and the label has "Cameron Sino" for a brand.
It has a stated capacity of 1800 mAh.
