Software Dev / 2.1 / 1.4 frame rates
« on: November 01, 2019, 08:04:03 PM »
I was looking at the data sheet for the 2.1 and noticed the frame rates on the 2.1 are a fair bit ahead of the 1.4 at higher resolutions, but as horizontal resolution drops the 1.4 takes the lead. For example at 1280x720 the 2.1 gets 2,100 fps to the 1.4's 1,500, however at minimum resolution (320x96)the 2.1 hits 26,000 fps while the 1.4 goes all the way to 40,000.

Is this due to a different architecture of the sensor or the software? Do you expect that updates to the 2.1 will allow full bandwidth at smaller horizontal resolutions?

I'm very pleased that the 1.4 is able to increase frame rates all the way down to 320 pixels from the initial 640. You guys are doing an awesome job on the software support front.

*(I also think there is a mistake in the 2.1 chart. 1440x1080 and 1440x720 show 2.24 gigapixels/s)

Chronos User Discussion / Chronos 1.4 screen upgrade?
« on: April 09, 2019, 09:31:08 PM »
Seeing the improved brighter screen on the 2.1, would the new LCD be compatible with the 1.4? I'd love a brighter screen on mine, if it were possible to upgrade.

Thanks!

Chronos User Discussion / Filming welding arc - filter necessary?
« on: October 28, 2018, 10:48:21 AM »
Hi Kron Tech,

If I want to film the arc from a stick welder, should I use a welding shade in front of the lens? I'm concerned the brightness and UV radiation might damage the sensor. I would have the shutter at a very small angle but I realize since it's an electronic shutter, the sensor will still be exposed to the intense UV light the whole time.

Thanks!

Software Dev / Access OS card with Windows PC?
« on: December 23, 2017, 02:29:20 PM »
Hello,

Please forgive what is probably a really dumb question -

I want to edit the drop-down list of resolutions/frame rates on the main record settings screen. I don't have a linux machine available to access the contents of the OS microSD card on the camera, so I'm wondering if any 3rd party applications are available for PC to access and edit this type of file. I don't know what the extension is. I have zero experience with linux.

Thanks,
G

Hi David,

This isn't much of a hindrance since it resolves by doing a hard reset, but sometimes, perhaps 10% of the time when I boot the camera up, all I get is a black screen. The power button light will be on but nothing else. Once you release the updated firmware I'll see if the problem is resolved and report back.

Chronos User Discussion / Using the charger with an inverter
« on: June 22, 2017, 10:46:25 PM »
I was out filming over the last 2 days and used a modified sine wave inverter to charge the camera in my car. Charging worked but the power block emits a buzzing sound when running. With the camera off (charging) it's slight, when the camera is on and charging it's louder.

I charge the camera at home from a pure sine inverter and there is no buzzing, and it seems to also charge faster.

Can anyone see any issues running the stock power adapter from a modified sine wave inverter? Could any damage be caused to either the adapter or camera?

Thanks!

I tried to find hardware to attatch a neck strap for a while until I came across these d-ring picture hangers in a hardware store today. They work like a charm and couldn't be more perfect!

$5 plus the strap itself. I lied in the video, it wasn't $10.

I'm not going to say "first", because I'm not a... crap, I've already said it.

Well, I picked up my camera yesterday and quickly got to testing.

I think backers will be very pleasantly surprised at the image quality, build quality, and sensitivity of the camera. IT feels like a production-ready product including excellent packaging.

Here are a couple of shots ranging from 1500 to 38,000 fps. Enjoy!
