Software Dev / Re: Switching Video State from "Play" to "Live"
« on: March 19, 2020, 03:10:26 PM »
This has been fixed in the unstable branch of the software, so that they now go back to "Live" if the filesave was started from "Live." They can be switched to that branch using the software update tool, which can be started with the Apply Software Update button under Util->Storage.

« on: March 17, 2020, 08:03:54 PM »
A new method to run update a camera to the new Debian release is now available. There is a camUpdate zip file containing the update-to-debian app, which runs on a Chronos 1.4 running software v0.3.2 or older, and writes the debian image to the SD card in the top slot. This is different previous updates, which would apply the update to the card in the bottom slot which the camera runs from.

The camUpdate zip file can be downloaded here: http://debian.krontech.ca/builds/camUpdate-debian-2020-03-17.zip

To use it:
1. Put the camUpdate folder on a USB flash drive formatted as FAT32.
2. insert that drive into the Chronos.
3. Press the Apply Software Update button on the Util screen (found on either the Main or Storage tab, depending on software version)
4. Follow the directions on screen in the app to write the image to the SD card.
5. Continue with "Step 5: Insert the microSD Card into Your Camera" in this topic. http://forum.krontech.ca/index.php?topic=531

Chronos User Discussion / Re: Introducing Chronos 2.1 HD!
« on: March 16, 2020, 12:47:14 PM »
On our Chronos 2.1 using the new chronos-unstable-20200314.img, I was not able to set a frame size of less than 640x96, and thus no framerate of more than 24k fps.

Did you switch to the 'unstable' release using the software update tool?

Manually edit the resolution using the Resolution widgets at the top of the Record Settings, then press the Max button beside the Frame Rate box, then OK. This should allow the higher frame rates.

you can already change the displayed value and choose between time, degrees and percentage
This can only be done in the new UI. Unfortunately, the new UI feels laggy compared to the old UI, but some people don't mind that. The old UI still shows it only in degrees and seconds.

That update gives the 1.4 a max framerate of 109kpfs at 320x32 resoultion.  I'm not sure what the max for the 2.1 will be, but it could be lower than that.

How's the responsiveness of the new UI? Do you think it's too slow in moving between screens or applying any changes?

sensor LUX2100

Specification
Frame Rate   1,000 FPS @ 1920 x 1080
1,500 FPS @ 1280 x 720
125,000 FPS @ 1920 x 8
It can be windowed down to achieve frame rates of 300,000+ FPS.

is it possible to implement such fps in the Chronos camera?

This is available now in the unstable branch of the latest software, which can be found here:
http://forum.krontech.ca/index.php?topic=531.0
So even the 125kfps and 300kfps are working in the unstable Software? That is great news!

Just edited my post.  The 1.4 now goes up to 109kpfs at 320x32.  I'm not sure what the 2.1 will max out at.

I'm really looking forward to my camera , is it possible to translate the menu into another language yourself or to have it released in an update?

Yes, I think it's possible to translate the menus, at least for languages using the latin script. Qt Creator or Qt Designer could be used to edit the text in the buttons and other widgets in the UI. The widgets are are inside the .ui files in this repository: https://github.com/krontech/chronos-cam-app/  The camera application then needs to be recompiled, as seen in that link.
Even then, there is other things that the user will see less often, like error messages, scattered throughout the source files in the repository.

We don't currently have any plans for official translations.

If I don't know how to program and these are all sorts of programs, then how do I translate for the camera?
We might start looking into translations in the near future. I'll post updated information if/when we have any.

I'm not sure what the max framerate on the 2.1 will be with this update.

Use the attached instructions to set up an SMB share on a Windows 10 system, or an NFS share on a Linux system.
These instructions will also be in the next revision of the user manual.

I can not more use the SD card for saving the video But with a USB key, this is possible
You are talking about the SD card in the top slot, correct? The card in the bottom slot cannot be used for saving.
Could you create a new topic if you are still having problems? I would like to keep the thread on topic.

The 2.1 and 1.4 are still both limited by the minimum 96-pixel height.  With a future software update, we plan to remove this limit and allow saving in the higher framerates.

Chronos User Discussion / Re: GPIO plug of Chronos 2.1
« on: February 18, 2020, 12:38:43 PM »
Hello, I want to trigger my chronos 2.1 camera with an external source. Reading the 1.4 Manual one needs a Phoenix Contact part number 1881383 to plug into the camera. I ordered this quite expensive thing and now it does not fit.

Also the port at my camera does not match the one that is shown on the Krontech page. It is not green but black, an image is attached.

Now I wonder which plug I need for the camera.

Even more I wonder if the specs in the Chronos 1.4 match be ones for the Chronos 2.1. Most important: are the pins at the same place and are voltage levels the same?

Thanks a lot! Best regards. Martin

The new plug is Phoenix Contact part number 1778890
You can also use Dupont jumper wires, like these: https://www.amazon.com/SUNKEE-100pcs-female-jumper-Dupont/dp/B00AYCON8Y/

The pin order is listed on the side of the camera too, and is the same as on the 1.4. The voltage levels that the camera accepts and outputs are also identical.

Hello, just asking to be sure I don't crash my camera: when connecting the camera to a PC via

1. OTG USB

this means I use an USB OTG adapter like  this one and then connect this adapter via a male-male cable to a USB-port of the PC? Never saw such connection yet. Will the PC then become the host?

Thanks! Martin

I know that a cable like this will work: https://www.amazon.com/Controller-Charger-Durable-Android-Charging/dp/B01GEDOPR0/
I think an OTG cable like the one you linked will work too, but I haven't tried it.

The camera will be the host.
