As suggested above, I bought some 100W LEDS, drivers, water cooling... but actually couldn't find the time to assemble it all together. Electronics is not my comfort zone anyway.

When we did some test runs in our lab at work this Wednesday, I brought my Chronos andmy boss brought some old foto studio lights with 1000W halogen burner!

Surprisingly that was absolutely flicker free!

Because halogen is considered outdated these days, these lights are very cheap (I now bought 3 on ebay for 40€ total incl. shipping) and give a very good warm white light.

The downside is, that the cheaper ones don't have built in fans, and can be used for 5 minutes only before they need to cool down. But that's why I bought three of them ;).

Any news on the timeline?

I'd really love to see a magnified center part of the screen for focussing. Maybe to be selected "focus aid 1" / "focus aid 2" / "focus aid off". Especially in low to medium light or low contrast conditions, focussing using the edge highlight doesn't work well. And because of the limited resolution of the screen, it's just a guess if your in the middle of what appears to be the "good range".

Sorry. Was meant to be "not listed", instead I selected "private". Now it should be available over this link.

Got some new footage:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPf6Pv2KeGk

It was on a German "outdoor" shooting range, so basically indoors... low light conditions. Still don't have constant light sources to illuminate the scene.

There are colored lines visible some times. I know this can happen when the memory is cold, but it was about 16 °C, which I wouldn't consider cold. Is there any way to prevent this? I plan to do some more filming in early January, and don't want all of the footage to show these lines.

Also I got trouble with focusing. It seems like the adaptor ring doesn't have a good hard stop, and the backfocus needs to be set depending on the torque that was applied when mounting the lens. I still store the camera in its shipping box, because this is very well stuffed, but that means I need to take off the lens for storing.

Any ideas on how to get this fixed?

I just bought the LED panels from ebay, as well as the converters and some water cooling blocks. Lets see if I as a mechanic can get these electronics to work... :D

That will take a while... "guaranteed delivery" within 60 days :o

I used HPUSBFW, a free software by HP to format USB drives, which also works on SD cards. Takes a long time, but worked flawlessly on my 64GB card. Must be run as administrator.

I think Joerg Sprave just got his Chronos too.  Have fun!

Are you in contact with Jörg? Do you know when he will upload his first Chronos videos?

Update:

The above SD card (SanDisk Extreme 64GB 90MB/s) seems to work fine. During my tests I had no dropped frames or skipped out points or such. Works fine, and is way better to get, at least over here in Germany.

Chronos User Discussion / Tapatalk this Forum?

Hi Team!

As a (mainly) mobile user, I learned to like Tapatalk to access forums. It largely reduces transferred data volume and is much better to read on small screens.

Is connecting this forum to Tapatalk something you might consider?

Cheers,
Jochen

Yesterday I managed to set up my camera and do some test shots. Unfortunately it way late evening, so I needed something that was bright enough to be seen at all.

So I filmed my TV screen... and old CRT TV set:

Nothing special, but just my first test.

I couldn't get the Lexar card, so I tried this one:

https://www.amazon.de/SanDisk-Extreme-Speicherkarte-90-MB-Class/dp/B01M0I3H4Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1505287640&sr=8-3&keywords=sandisk+64gb+sd

I haven't set up the camera yet, so I couldn't test it, but I hope it's OK.
