Chronos User Discussion / Chronos 1.4 IR Filter Dimension Size Confusion?
« Last post by B.H.V on December 27, 2023, 07:17:07 AM »
Hi all, I'm seeing different dimensions for the IR filter size (See below links). Some documentation shows it as 15mm X 15mm, another shows it at 18mm X 18mm and 24mm X 16mm. What would the filter size be for a Chronos 1.4 received in 2018?

Hi
Is the square sensor of the Q12 made for all the 9-16 format requests that we get all the time?

You should have more flexibility for cropping to 9:16 when using the Q12 because of it's squarish sensor.

Chronos User Discussion / Re: 100,000 FPS with the 2.1 as previously advertised

What's the resolution to get to around 40,000 fps with the 2.1?

Just an idea. Some of us like the smaller 2/3 sensor form factor as we can use modern sharp 0.95 and 1.2 lenses (Laowa Argus, Meike and Nokton) at their wider aperture receiving more light into the sensor while keeping a greater depth of field for easier focusing compared to larger sensors. And I'm guessing by using a smaller sensor and some other cost cutting measures (ie. cutting the maximum record time to 3 seconds which would require less RAM), the camera can be more affordable. Looks like GPixel has a 2/3 2K sensor (see below). Just a thought.

Some key specs:

"GSPRINT4502 is a 2.5 Megapixel (2048 x 1216), 2/3” (φ10.7 mm), high speed image sensor designed with the latest 4.5 µm charge domain global shutter pixel. It achieves more than 30 ke- charge capacity and less than 4 e- rms read noise, with dynamic range of 68 dB which can be expanded using a multi-slope HDR feature. Utilizing an advanced 65 nm CIS process with light pipe and micro lens technology, the sensor achieves >65% quantum efficiency and < -92 dB parasitic light sensitivity.

GSPRINT4502 can achieve extremely high frame rates up to 3460 fps in 8-bit mode, 1780 fps in 10-bit mode or 850 fps in 12-bit mode, all at full resolution. With 2×2 on-chip charge binning, full well capacity can be further increased to 120 ke- and frame rate to 10,200 fps. GSPRINT4502 supports vertical and horizontal regions of interest for higher frame rates. GSPRINT4502 is perfect for high-speed applications including 3D laser profiling, industrial inspection, high speed video and motion analysis."

I use the 7Artisans f/0.95 35mm MFT lens. I usually film at f/0.95 or f/1.2.

I have a Meike 35 0.95 lens as well and it's pretty sharp at 0.95! My Meike 50 0.95 is a bit soft low contrast wide open but not too shabby. It sharpens up at 1.2 and up. One of the benefits of the smaller 2/3 sensor is we can use these wide open apertures as the DOF is greater and more forgiving in getting the subject in focus.

General high-speed discussion / Re: ISO 1000 to 16000 how?

The ISO sensitivity of a camera indicates how well it can catch light. The camera can record weaker light and is more light-sensitive the higher the ISO sensitivity. In order to catch as much fluorescence signal as possible, high sensitivity is usually desired when using fluorescence microscopy applications.

Hi,

I'm having difficulty connecting to network storage that I have setup on my Windows 10 device. These are the basic steps I have followed.

1. Assign IP address on laptop ethernet network card to 192.168.1.1 with netmask 255.255.255.0
2. Assign IP address on Chronos camera to 192.168.1.2 with netmask 255.255.255.0
3. Set "Unidentified Network" to private (it defaults to public network).
4. Create folder to be shared.
5. Right Click-> Properties -> Sharing and share to user. This outputs my Network path of \\compute1\\Chronos_Footage
6. I then go into the Chronos 1.4 camera and go to SMB Share and set SMB Share to 192.168.1.1/Chronos_Footage/

I get the error "is not reachable!".

I'm not sure what is going on here and any help will be greatly appreciated. I think the guide to connect to a Windows Network Drive might be out of date as well?

Thank you,
Dustin

I think Windows 10 defaults to a version of SMB greater than 1.0, which isn't supported by the latest 0.7 firmware.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/file-server/troubleshoot/detect-enable-and-disable-smbv1-v2-v3

I ran into a similar issue with my NAS which uses SMBv3 and had to SSH into the camera to get the service logs for more troubleshooting clues.
