I've never heard of dB gain when talking about video recording, what does this mean exactly?
Decibel or also known as dB is an logarithmic unit. Look it up, if you need more info about it. As far as i am aware, 2 dB more would Double your exposure.
Since the Native (Base-) ISO äquivalent is ISO 500 on the Chronos 2.1, 24 dB Gain should be around 12000 ISO äquivalent, if i didnt get something wrong here.
Will have to do an Side-By side Comparison with an other Camera, to be able to say this for sure, but i think that should be about right.

Ah I see yeah I noticed the iso change.

dB is decebel, a way to measure two relative signal strengths. In this case, 6dB of gain is equivalent to 1 stop, or a doubling of sensitivity. So 24db is four doublings, or 16x gain.

Thanks!I dont know what is the Max Setting, but 24dB Still looks more than ok!Looking great.

I find that 24dB gain on the 2.1 is about the same apparent noise as 0dB gain on the 1.4, the new sensor is really phenomenal with respect to noise!

So, 24dB would be 8000 ISO equivalent?

Gain test, just increased the gain as the sun was getting lower, leaving FPS, shutter angle and lens aperture on the same(ish) settings.

They're talking about the analog gain, which is measured in db.  Increasing it increases the brightness of the image, but also makes it more noisy/grainy.

Wow the 2,000 fps shot might be the most impressive yet. Thanks for scratching my itch for more Chronos 2.1 clips!

I can see column banding becomes much more visible and still apparent at 0dB. My guess is that more calibration will help with that like it did on the 1.4

Ah, it`s good to know, that bandings and artefacts and lines in the image seem to be present at all 2.1 cameras, especially when not at 1920x1080... Thought my camera has a problem.

Very nice Video!Just in the 3k and 5,4k fps shots its a bit much chromatic abberation from the Lens for my taste, or the Camera does something funky in Debayering (That was an problem with the 1.4 initialy also.).

Was that later fixed through software or a hardware change?

That was fixed by a change of the Default Debayering algorithm in Firmware. If you use Older Firmware with the 1.4 and shoot a scene like this, it still looks very bad. Lots of very colorfull pixels everywhere they shouldnt be....Thats because for very small highlights some Debayering algorithms just assume that this very bright (In reality white) pixel would actually be the Color of the Pixel, and not white.
