Shooting Actionsports with the chronos 1.4

(1/1)

patrickrebstock:
Hey guys I was just wonder if there was anyone else shooting action sports with the chronos 1.4?
I have shot some surfing and kitesurfing with a coming to ef adapter ( my adapter is terrible, need to get a nice one)
I have mainly been using my canon 300mm 2.8 converterted from fed to ef manual lens with an equipment of something close to 1200~mm
I also tried my 800mm which is a bit too gnarly
I am usin a scactler video 18p
I have been shooting 720p at 1500fps and 800fps to almost double my buffer time
I found that when shooting pro surfing at tressles I would have to prioritize what part of the wave to record because I couldn’t get the whole wave,  I have the 8second larger record time Camera
With 800fps which is probably fast enough for most action sports I was able to get more of the wave and the. Pick some inns and outs and save them
I defiantly want to have another stills camera around my neck or a greedybar with another Camera set up on it so while it’s saving I’m not complety missing everything

Great footage, but would benefit a lot from some correction in post.
I'm sure you'll know this but for the sake of anyone reading who doesn't, here's a before and after frame grab:

patrickrebstock:
yeah straight out of the camera, i just wanted to share the clip with you guys but it wouldn't let me upload a file that big to the forum

JamesB:
Excellent footage, I see an absence of dark pixels in your video.  Did you get a second batch camera?  Everything I shoot is littered with dark pixels in the image on shadow areas.  Wondering if the batch has anything to do with it.

patrickrebstock:
mine is from the second batch
