Kron Schlieren Imaging tutorial

Hi all,

I am new to high-speed cameras and looking to use them for my study
I was wondering if recording the airflow movement such as in this video is possible with just a Chronos camera and without any other equipment?

I can't seem to find a tutorial on how to achieve this imaging. But I am guessing it requires a spherical mirror to actually function?

Thank you!

Regards

yes, you need a Spherical Mirror and also a Special Light Source, and a very careful positioning of all those components

I stumbled onto your post and thought you might be interested to know that there are other ways to do Schlieren that do not require a parabolic mirror or an optical setup! Instead the effect can be measured using software and a speckled background (background oriented).
This way you are not limited to the size of the parabolic mirror... in fact you don't need the mirror or a point light source at all!
It makes for a much simpler setup and you can set the effect scale after the recording.
