I'm looking for some guidance on what is necessary to get my Chronos set up with a SSD. I went to a large computer parts store (Micro Center) but got blank stares from the techs when I showed them what I was trying to accomplish.
The problem apparently is that the eSata cable doesn't support powering the drive through the camera port. On another thread, I saw an eSata-p cable mentioned, but I couldn't find such a thing being sold nor did anyone at the store know what it was.
I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to eSata, so I might just be missing something simple. Does anyone have a parts list of what they used to get a SSD setup working with the camera? Thank you!

Hi,
since the Chronos has an esatap port and seems to be fastest when saving like this, finding a portable/compact case with esatap seems to be slightly more difficult..
You can see the differences between esata and esatap ports here:

(esatap seems to have those 4 holes in the middle, which is most likely just a visual guide. More recent laptops sometimes have those, esatap is always a combined USB/esata port.)
I only found 3 external casings with esatap support doing a quick search and ONLY for 2.5" HDs, no M.2/NVME cases with esatap... ;(
I'll be ordering this one and will report back:

Hope that was somewhat helpful.

I just saw that the Chronos store now has a SSD that is all ready to go:

You'll still need an eSATAp cable with any SSD. I don't think it's included with the SSD. Here's the one from our store: https://www.krontech.ca/store.html#!/eSATA-to-SATA-Cable/p/133345541/category=24447029

I just ordered and received the previously linked SSD and eSATA cable. Is there a special incantation that I need to get the drive to be recognized by the camera?
Thanks in advance -

Did you format the drive? If so, what format? The camera supports FAT32, EXT2 and EXT3.

:) ;D Never underestimate the power of HDD, this spring one of two I have in PC was severely damage due to fact that I upload/download a lot of data. It was on of the most expensive I could find on amazon with 5-star reviews. Local Tech Support told me: -We can't help, his done. While I was frustrated because on that HDD I had photos and other things very important to me by memory. When I come home for 2-3 days I watched YouTube videos how to restore data and I did it. I restored some fragments and there I found all the photos. But soon after I bought a new one, to be sure not to have same situation again, I found on UN WEEKLY topic about these guys https://prizedreviews.com/best-nas-hard-drive/ (https://prizedreviews.com/best-nas-hard-drive/) and contacted them, very soon after we build everything and I’m still happy with my. Recommendation is very positive.
