Chronos User Discussion / How does the Color Matrix work?
« on: September 10, 2020, 02:10:45 PM »
Has anyone some Experience with the Color matrix inside the Chronos White Balance menu?
I kind of found out how it works, that it basically is a RGB to RGB Remapping Lookuptable for the Sensor data. The only thing i can find about it is some Asian App, which aparently uses the Same concept, but actually has Sliders to mess around with Contrast, Saturation and Exposure, which the Chronos lacks, and setting this Look-Up-Table/ Color Matrix by trial and error is not just frustrating and very time Consuming, but almost impossible to do propperly without messing something about your colors up from what i done with them untill now.
So my question is, has anyone done something with the Matrix yet and any tips/ tricks, or is there Any further documentaition on the Topic?
Also, is it planed to add an slider /value Box for Contrast/ Saturation/ Exposure? Shouldnt be that hard to add, but would make this Color matrix actually useable.
and, is there any way to save multiple Color Profiles/ Name them? also havnt figured that one out yet. Allways resetting the one over and over by hand seems kind of annoying....

Found a way to do it in camera btw:
Go into the Color Matrix and set EVERY of the Nine Values at the Same Number, for example "1"
This will give you an In-Camera Black and White Effect on an Color Model Chronos 1.4 or 2.1

Chronos User Discussion / Re: Is Krontech still in business?

I really feel uncomfortable that none of the officials is replying here. Although I already have the Chronos 2.1 here. What, if some minor part breaks? Will this be a total loss then?

I don't understand Krontech. It is obvious that if I would being interested in buying a camera and then stumble upon such a thread in the companies forum discussing whether a company is still in business and this thread is completely ignored by the company, I wouldn't invest some thousands of dollars having the feeling the camera maybe never arrives and the money is just gone.

What's going on at Krontech?
Well, as much as i share your point of view from waiting for my allready paid camera for quite some time longer than expected and not allways getting an reply instantly, i am also not really sure what i would even write if i had to put any kind of official reply in such a thread if i was Krontech. For sure, some of their decision are somewhat Questionable, and would absolutely have liked (and still to this day) to get some information earlier or at all, but keep in mind, they are still a company, and any kind of official statement about stuff like this could backfire very hard at any point, so if i where them, i would absolutely take my time with some stuff to not make bad mistakes. Also, they actually dont have to reply at all, if they really wanted to. Just look at any other camera Company, you will find people somewhere talking bad things about them, if you search long enough, so what. People still buy their stuff, or find something better. Good luck with that in terms of Highspeed Cameras though... even if they quit as of today for whatever reason, they would still have survived crazy long for beeing a kickstarter initially, and also a company that really delivered what they promised and more, compared to so much others that didnt even come Close to finishing their prototype after Collecting all the money....
And i dont really get why most people here seem so sure, that Krontech Will go / is in danger of going out of bussiness? Sure, ecconomy isnt great at the moment, but that also doesnt mean that every company will just die instantly. They are as of now sending cameras out just as fast as they can possibly, from my personal experience and anyone i talked to, the big delay in the last month was not from them Having trouble selling Cameras or anything about money, but Parts Shortage. From what i can see its more like the opposite, they right now have way more demand than they can produce. As i said allready, it sure had been a lot more relaxing for me and a lot of other people if they where more open about the delays, image-Quality problems and more, but nobody except them knows the reasons why they put out / keep certain informations, who knows what else is going on behind the scenes, they might have very good reasons why they do it exactly like this, and i guess they would propably do it differently if they thought they knew a better way of doing it. (a wise saying where i live goes something like this: (roughly translated from German:) You cant look inside someone elses Head / Heart)

I double that.
its kind of hard to expose the image correctly, because it seems that bright in low light.
Personally, i really like it as bright as it is, and find it absolutely nessercary for outdoor stuff. I think i will even keep it at full brightness, if i could change it for most of the time, but i see why one would maybe have it darker. For me, a Histogramm or at least a small exposure Indicator (on some Cameras it just shows an indicator for propper exposure, and values from +3 Stops over to 3 Stops under, as well as Way over and way under Exposure, which would be 3 Stops. Some Cameras will just show an Number for this, but this allready helps so much to get an idea of your exposure!), would really help to get the best out of the Camera without the need to have an External Monitor with Histogramm hooked up at all times.

Old thread I know but my Cronos has only just arrived  ;)

I have just ordered the Sigma 1.8 18 -35mm and I'm having a little trouble finding an appropriate adapter for it with manual aperture control. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.  :D
Depends on the mount of the Lens.... What mount does the Lens have?

Put trigger time (the slider Image you also posted) on some different setting, then all the way to the Right side, applied it. Then i just played around with all the buttons in the IO1 Tab, think at some point i deactivated pullup, maybe also try that, and hit "Apply", i allways tried if it works now, after changing anything, and after a bit playing around, it worked suddenly.

Never used the BNC Trigger untill now, but it works fine for me with the Settings you posted. I just put the Trigger Timing Slider all the Way to the Right and applied the Changes. Didnt work on the first try, but eventually it started working with those settings. Im on 0.5.1 also (but have a 2.1), so it should work on that version, at least on the Software side...?

Thanks for providing some info in lieu of my late response, Nikon1.
just helping out where i can. Thanks also for all the work you guys put into this.
While we are here, can you maybe give me some info or at least a hint at how the Color-Matrix and White-Balance Settings on the Chronos work.
I see nine Values for the Color matrix, and three for the White-Balance. Guess for the Color it would be amounts of Colors from something or Contrasts at Shadows/ Highlights or....?
Have no real idea how to set the White balance based on color values (guess the three values would be R,G,B).
Can you or someone else give any info about this, i cant find anything about this anywhere.
 Thanks

Saw the tweet about the minor update but nothing pertaining to what the update was about.
Ist an update mainly for the 2.1 of the New batch which have some issue at higher gain-Values.I allready updated, and while i never did a direct comparison, the new update improoved Image Quality a bit from What i can tell and removed a bunch of issues with no image at all beeing displayed at some Resolutions/ Framerates at Very high gain.I dont think the Update does anything to the 1.4 or the older batch of 2.1´s but is mainly for the New 2.1´s.

I've twigged that this is probably a timezone issue. So how do I tell my Chronos it's not in British Columbia any more ? :)
Go into "util" menu, go to "Factory" Tab, Click into the "Clock" field and type in the time of your timezone, click "Save". Should change the time.

We placed a paid order weeks ago for a new Chronos camera, and have been completely unable to contact Kron Technologies via Email or phone since then.  I am concerned they may be closed or out of business entirely; does anyone here have any additional information on their status and whether this is normal?
Also, apart from Canadian holidays, sometimes it can take a while untill they answer mails. at least from My experience since the Order. i am not completely sure why, but sometimes you get an Answer a few Hours later or right away, sometimes it can take a Week or even longer in some Cases. However, i always got a reply at some point. Could be Hollidays (never looked up their Hollidays on an Calendar or something... so i dont know how often that was the case), but could also be a lot of people writing mails asking about their ordered Cameras because they are late on the deliverys from Earlier this year due to various reasons.

Who knows where the tab went where I could see the status of my order and at any time could cancel the order in this tab. Now I go to the site and can't find it
When did you order you camera?

February 19 made a payment
i orderd my 2.1 on January 1st,... got it friday. so.... maybe will still take a few days more for yours
Unless they notified you about the Shipment, i would assume you can still cancel it if you actually wanted to.
Just send them a mail, if you give them something in Written form, stating that you are Canceling your order, i think it should be valid.
From what i heard, they have quite the struggle right now, keeping up with demand. So if you want a 2.1 better prepare a good amount of patience, you will most likely need it. Mine is Serial Number #00082.

so i would expect that more heat means, battery drains faster, and that High gain would draw more power.
As far as I'm aware recording does not consume more power than idling.
The power consumption is pretty constant apart from the fan, which obviously depends on the external temperature.
For my test today, Room Temperature was 26°C for the whole test. But i think you are right, heard something like this also somewhere.
