As far as i am aware, eSata is the fastest connection, think i heard some people from Krontech say that more than once, if i recall correctly. I am no specialist in comunication protocolls by any stretch, but my best guess would be that eSata is treated as just memory, so way less Comunication Overhead, over Network, there should also be a lot of data Request - Answer kind of stuff happening, as well as Checksums for the pakets sent, making sure they are comunicating with the right target for the Packets, and just way more things happening which do not purely move data. Its at this point basically two PCs comunicating versus one PCs "Internal" Storage. so i am not sure where the Limiting Factor is, could maybe be the Network controler or internal processing power of the Chronos to get all the Data into the Network in the First place, and eSata maybe needs less processing power, and is faster? Not sure if that is correct, but thats maybe whats happening. Maybe someone from Krontech who actually knows what is really going on, can explain better. I am not sure if The network connection will beat the eSata for .h264 file transfer, but at least DNG and TIFF, eSata should be the fastest option you have to get the data off of the Camera, and i also think there isnt much, that can be done about that right now.
