What is the download Mbps speed to SD and through the eSata port?
I got a high speed SD card to see if it made a difference but there was no difference

I also tried a USB to SD card converter, but it was only like 10% faster.

The 2.5" SSD to eSATA option is very large. Could I do something like eSATA to M.2 (NVME/SSD) to greatly reduce the size?
I am not sure what to buy if I wanted this option.

The Bottleneck is propably not the SD-Card, its internal processing power to put out the Data.

I am still confused on how each will work.

Are the speeds of: SD, USB, eSATA all different?

Especially: USB vs eSATA
They both plug into the same port, but are they different in speed and function?

I really dislike how large a standard 2.5 SSD looks.
Currently, is there a solution for something near the size of nvme drive?

Depends. On my Chronos 1.4 eSata was fastest, when writing DNG files.
Because you'll likely have a few of those for each take, an SD-Card will quickly become sluggish when forced to random write all those images.
Oh.. isn't the USB port 2.0 still? Even on the 2.1? That would make eSata indeed a smidge faster :)

If you just export as x264 video, speeds are almost the same on each storage option and are mostly limited by the internal encoder.

I only found one external 2.5" case with eSataP port, here in Germany, but that was quite a while ago. ESataP isn't the most popular IO connector, it seems. While I'm OK with the 2.5" casing, a more compact one for NVME certainly wouldn't hurt :)

Just posted on another thread (SSD case one), I tested a M2 NVME drive with poor results. It connects through USB, so not sure if that's the problem, anyway, managed to get only 8fps...

Have you tried connecting the m.2 directly via SATA Port? Should be Faster according to the First link in the Reply i posted above...?

Need a diferent adapter, ordered a while back, but it will take at least a month to arrive...
