Title: Never-ending save
Post by: chrissie_c on May 28, 2021, 07:15:24 AM
I filmed something at approx 10486(640x240)fps today, but when I went to save it to the SD card (mp4 format) it never finished. it just went round and round the buffer never finishing. (see attached screenshot) I powered off the camera to see if anything useful had been written to the SDcard but but although there was an MP4 file with the right date on it, it's not readable. Oddly, it might be about the right size but I can't get anything to open it annoyingly.

It wasn't anything critical (nothing I do is critical :), but it was worrying.

I saw the same thing once recently with the 2.1 writing to an SSD.  I don't remember the frame rate or resolution I was using.  Next time it happens I'll take careful notes and report it to Kron Technologies.

We have recently discovered this software bug with (Where the footage is stuck in an endless saving loop) the video encoder when saving video as H.264 at high framerates. Our team is currently working on resolving this issue in the new software updates. In the meantime, I would suggest saving your footage with CinemaDNG, TIFF, or other raw formats as a workaround.

Only thing i can add to this in terms of useful informations is, that i observed that the Frame Counter on display behaves weirdly. Also Output doesnt quite match the Selected Frames exactly. Usually wont be an issue, because i and probably everybody else would Select quite a bunch more frames than Actually needed, but still strange and i assume not as intended. Dont know how much this is related to the Issue of that Never ending Save, but wanted to mention it, since it seems like there could be a possible connection here. Never had any save that wouldnt end myself.
 .
Did record a couple of different Saves and put some commentary into the Video. Lot of Hard cuts in there, feel free to stop the Video to read the Text and Settings on Screen (or whatever the Frame-Counter displays) properly.
Didnt do any further research or testing with this, shown behavior is just meant as an example to see, that there is an Issue or something a bit off there.
