Chronos User Discussion / Renting a Chronos in USA?
« on: August 09, 2022, 04:59:37 PM »
So a friend wants to rent a Chronos. I’m debating renting mine out. But that I was wondering if anyone else rents the 2.1? If I want to try it?

Chronos User Discussion / Black screen after press record
« on: April 26, 2022, 03:40:19 PM »
Is there a way to minimize the black screen when I press record? I hit record and the screen goes black on my Chronos 1.4. I wait for the live view to show back up on screen before executing the event I want to capture. When I try to stop recording while the screen is black, I end up not recording anything. It is a little bit annoying.

Chronos User Discussion / Sigma 600mm Lens On Chronos
« on: April 16, 2022, 09:25:12 PM »
I acquired a catadioptric lens (mirror) to play around with. It is made by Sigma and is f/8. I used a speed booster. This lens is 42mm and I got an adapter to make it micro 4/3. It works pretty well.

I mounted a micro red dot to the cage to help me aim.

Here is a sample I shot at the zoo. 30 yards or so is not far enough way. LOL

You can find these lenses for under $150 on ebay. Be careful. Mine has some mold on the mirror. It seems this is somewhat common. But for a cheap high magnification lens, I am ok with it.

So I discovered this company that makes a system to track projectiles in flight. But it costs $130k USD.

Chronos User Discussion / SmallRig Camera Cage
« on: December 07, 2021, 07:12:13 PM »
So it is thanks to Somosrobolt https://www.instagram.com/somosrobolt/ on IG he shared the cage he uses for the Chronos.

The cage is 1584 for Canon. It fits. You need the 2060 cold shoe as well. You bolt the cold shoe to the top of the Chronos and the top of the cage has a shoe tab that slide into that cold shoe.

I flipped the right side brackets so it helps to clear the battery door. You still need to rotate the camera a bit to clear the bottom of the cage. Another minor issue is pulling the SD card. It sits under the cage and I found it easier to loosen the cold shoe tab screws, slide it forward, and loosen the bracket arms so the top of the cage can be removed and now I can remove the SD card.

Chronos User Discussion / Small Rig Dreamrig for Chronos 1.4
« on: November 22, 2021, 10:47:20 PM »
I reached out to SmallRig about making a cage for the Chronos and bracket to protect the left side. Specifically the BNC connector. They have a separate program called Dream Rig where you can upload technical specs and drawings and they will help design a cage. No idea how much this will end up costing.

So far I want arca on the bottom with a 1/4-20 hole on the bottom for non-arca compatible tripods. I also wanted nato rails for use with their accessories.

Will keep you updated.

Chronos User Discussion / Flashlight for filming
« on: November 10, 2021, 12:21:26 AM »
So I reached out to my friend at Illumn. I brought my Chronos 1.4 over to his shop and we tested an Imalent DX80. It outs out 30k lumens on turbo. I tried some really high FPS and reduced shutter speed and did not notice any flicker.

I bought it and tested it when I got home. I was able to film a .22lr bullet traveling approximately 710 fps. I reduced the shutter speed to 40% thinking I would play it back at 20fps. It is kind of dark but you can see the bullet. I took a couple more videos with faster shutter speed and the bullet is rather blurry. Will be testing this some more. The light can operate at full brightness for 3 minutes. I turn it on right before I hit the remote trigger and as soon as I stop the recording I turn off the light. At a few seconds of use per capture think I can use this light for a while before recharging.

Chronos User Discussion / Chronos mounting holes
« on: November 08, 2021, 09:42:03 PM »
So I am slowly learning about the various accessories. Small Rig has some interesting accessories that bolt directly to the 1/4x20 holes like for mounting an external monitor etc. But I cannot seem to figure out what uses the smaller M4x0.7 holes.

What are you using those holes for?

General high-speed discussion / Slow mo audio effects for videos
« on: November 08, 2021, 04:15:52 PM »
I mistakenly posted this question in the Chronos specific section. But this is general for all slow motion. Is there a repository for license free slow motion audio that we can use with our Chronos videos? Like a gun shot or whooshing sounds.

Chronos User Discussion / Low light capture
« on: November 01, 2021, 09:19:57 PM »
So I’m still waiting on my Chronos. Has anyone captured video under low light? I want to capture a faint light but I know the Chronos needs a lot of light to light up the subject. Won’t that wash out the faint light I am trying to capture?

Chronos User Discussion / Focus peaking assist?
« on: October 29, 2021, 11:55:29 AM »
I ordered my 1.4 earlier this week. I’m mentally preparing for its arrival. I saw some videos online and noticed some zebra lines but that is for exposure. Does the Chronos have focus peaking to help you get the lens focused on your subject? On my Sony A7S cameras I can digitally zoom in I think they call it focus assist, I use this a lot to make sure my f/0.95 manual focus lens is actually focused on the thing I am taking a photo of.

Does the Chronos have a feature like that?
