Software Dev / Camera powers off after update to 0.3.2
« on: July 24, 2019, 12:43:15 AM »
Hi all
I updated my camera from v0.3.1 to the latest and greatest beta yesterday and all appeared well. I did the calibration backup before updating as well. Once done I had a little play including saving to an SSD card connected via esatap and several reboots.
Later in the evening after it had been off for a while I decided to try something else but the camera wouldn't boot or stay on. Sometimes it wouldn't get past a black screen (the splash screen always shows) and eventually just turns off. Other times it will get to the main UI screen and then just shut down. There is time to press one button to which it responds but then it powers off. There was one instance when it got to the main screen but showed lots of multicoloured snow, I just rebooted when it did this and now it won't start at all
Please help me get it either working or reverted back to an earlier firmware
Thanks
Ian

Update:
OK, got some coffee in me and I disconnected the power and battery for a short while and it will now boot and stay up. On boot though it takes two attempts with the first being reset by the watchdog if I don't miss my guess. It has done this several times consistently now.
I also notice there is a lot of screen speckling when the focus assist is active. This is not really a problem, just an observation.
More playing soon
Thanks

Hi all
I have been following the hdmi updates closely and have a question or two now it looks as though it might be around the corner
The wording around its function. On the news feed it said playback out, other places imply live monitoring. Is the plan to show everything on the preview area of the screen i.e. the video? Both during recording, playback and setup and framing.

This question has arisen because I am looking for an additional reason to buy an Atomos recording monitor. I would love to be able to record the video out on the monitor as well as the high speed version on the camera. This would simplify post a lot for me.

Finally with my dubious eyesight having a larger daylight usable monitor would be fantastic.
Thanks
Ian

Hi
I was trying to shoot some snow blowing over some swings a week or so ago - a very desolate scene. This involved trying to guess when the wind would blow 'correctly' and pick up some drift and off we go. This involved multiple takes and I missed a couple of good ones because I had to press record then yes on the message saying the previous one had not been saved. Mother nature was not very understanding this day. I have looked through the manual, the menus and other forum posts for a way to disable this but to no avail.
Is it possible to disable this making recording a one touch affair even if the buffer has not been saved? Most of the time this is a good idea but there are times when it is frustrating
Thanks
