Chronos User Discussion / Stop recording and auto save with remote?
« on: September 23, 2022, 04:03:04 PM »
I play football and would like to have the camera running through mains and left recording while the game is in motion. I would then like to have the camera auto save the entire buffer stored in the cache memory, then automatically start to record again once the saving has finished.

I'd also like this to all happen via the click of a button that I would keep in my soak...

I imagine none of this is possible at all :D

  • Be in record mode
  • Press button wirelessly
  • Record entire memory
  • Start recording again
  • Repeat

Chronos User Discussion / Re: Can you record audio?
« on: March 30, 2022, 09:04:02 AM »
Ahhh interesting indeed. I've a Rode external mic with a pre-amp. So I guess it should be "ok". So I could do live 60fps... though I dislike the lag that creates, I can't remember where though lol maybe when moving from save mode to the live preview. I am not sure. Humm I would mostly be recording sports so the audio isn't really a must, but interesting still to test.

Now... custom fan you say... You have peaked my interest there :D

I assume according to the manual that we still cannot recore audio? I only ask, because I have been looking around and it seems some older threads mention being able to record audio?

Chronos User Discussion / Speedbooster with Focus Ring
« on: February 24, 2022, 02:40:46 AM »
Hey guys, I have been looking at the Metabones Speed Booster Ultra - Nikon G to Micro Four Thirds and noticed it has its own focus ring. I am wondering, if my lens has its own focus ring and this has a manual one too. I would need to focus in 2 places to adjust my focus acordingly?

Or can you leave the speedbooster in infinity and then only adjust on the lens?

Thanks!

Thanks guys! I've just received the mount :D

I am just going to install it and under Preperation it says

2.5 Slide out the brass back focus locking pin from camera and store in included box (which box :O :D)
2.6 Re-install back focus screw with Allen Key until flush with bottom of camera.

So I am confused, am I doing exactly as this says? If so why? In my mind, I need to remove the C-Mount to get this bad boy working.

Off topic, how do I know which thicken shim I would like to use? I guess its lens dependant and I should look at the lens I am using for it? (answered: Ah, its on the reverse of the sheet under "6. Back Focus Adjustment)

Also it would be great to know why we removed the fan screw :)

But otherwise what an absolutely fantastic mount this is :D I am pleased to see c-mount go away a little bit :)

Chronos User Discussion / SSD gets 60fps while saving.
« on: February 14, 2022, 01:30:19 AM »
I am just wondering if 60fps @ 1000fps for the SSD is normal? I ask because I get the exact same fps whilst saving on the SD card as I do when saving to the SSD drive.

Reading here some people can experience up to 240fps while saving? https://forum.krontech.ca/index.php?topic=447.msg2344#msg2344

For anybody else having the issue, mine was simply that I was not selecting the SSD as the "save location" inside "Play > Settings > Save Location"

Thanks for your help Nikon though!

So embarrassingly it turns out, it was detecting the drive. But it does not automatically detect and set the save location. So it was still trying to save to the SD Card. So I had it saving to the SSD drive, though it took 3:09 to save 11s of footage to it. Now I cannot get it to save back onto the SD for me to time test the differences. But I will keep playing :D

Thank you pal!!

Ye I noticed that but thought... It's too late to inspect it. As it really does take away from the magic!!

I need to sort out the white balance. Difficult I find it

Thank you Nikon1. I read this on my way to football and actually tested everything out. The drive is perfectly fine formatted to FAT32. And works when connecting to the esta via USB to the machine. BUt not when trying esata cable I bought for the drive. So all things point to the cable. I have ordered 2 new cables from different companies just to try and cover my bridges :D

But its very reassuring to know its a "known" issue.

https://youtu.be/kWBpjbjcBIw Footage from yesterday! First time using so have allot to be desired. But man... what a camera. Dreams are starting to come true!

Chronos User Discussion / SSD not powering on

Hey guys. I'm fairly sure nothing I'm doing is overtly wrong and I have spent around 5 mins searching but cannot find anybody else having issues with their SSD power wise.

So I have a esatap cable and it's plugged in. I can't imagine what else I would need?

Cheers again

Not to bring up a post that is past 120 days. I imagine an update for this hasn't been released? I'm actually finding it very difficult to see my screen when its sunny outside.
