Chronos User Discussion / Re: Using the charger with an inverter
« on: June 23, 2017, 12:36:26 AM »
Hey Gyppor.

To be honest, nothing that is not a heater likes a stepped(modified) sine inverter. They are basically next to a square wave. The buzzing in the power supply unit the switch mode inside dealing with its weird input, other then it loosing some efficiency it should charge fine :)

Recorded at 1,700FPS, playback at 60 (28x slowed)
Lit with a Stratus LED module: https://www.stratusleds.com/module
Using a cheap lens: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B...

Hehehe, Those LED's are basically a more compact version of exactly what i built :P

I haven't seen any steady lines like those shown above but occasionally I have seen light/dark bands that will move vertically as the exposure time is adjusted. I'm not sure if they are associated with any particular resolution or frame rate but I'll see if I can reproduce it.

How about some electrical arcs crawling across and through wood:

The line is there for most shots over 15Kfps, It is most noticeable in low light situations. As long as you have plenty of light it shouldn't be an issue. We do hope to have the bug fixed in the next software release.

Actually, we did build a neck strap for Maker Faire here in Vancouver so we did not get tired carrying the cameras.
We utilized the mounting holes on the sides of the camera and mounted two small steel cable loops, then strung an eBay neck strap through the holes.

At 720p the picture seems fine, but at lower resolutions the lines appear as seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIRFr4rGwM0
They do not display on lighter pixels, but do in shadow / midtones.
I did a black cal multiple times, restarted etc, still there.
Is it a sensor problem, user error or software?

The Line that shows up at lower resolutions is a current software issue and is high on the debug list. I will update this message when I have more info on the issue.

I am guessing it seems to move up and down when you change the shutter timing as well?

Cheers on drawing the UI, I quite like how you styled the buttons and functions.

I do agree it would look alot nicer with the buttons having a more crisp box around them.

Cheers,
Max

Lots of work was behind it :P

Or they will use PWM to dim which sucks too

You need to make sure the LED's power supply has enough filtering on the output, and that the driver is not overloaded. Some crappy leds will flicker at full power due to the leds discharging the caps before the next fill from the ac input.
I've seen some leds with no drivers and they look horrendous.

Quite interesting, I personally have not used the camera for anything other they controlled scientific events.
The flag is quite interesting, especially how you can see the waves going through it.

Cheers,
Max
