Software Dev / Re: LabVIEW
« on: January 14, 2021, 11:56:18 AM »
NOTE LabVIEW is a scientific programming language used in R&D with a focus on data ackquisition and processing. It is used to program your own algorithms (with a lot of standard functions including image processing provided depending on the extensions you're using) it is not a tool for image processing like the adobe photoshop and similar!

First things I want to share below. You will need LabVIEW 2019 or above to run this VI's (if anyone needs a version saved for an older release of LabVIEW post a note here).

  • exampleExler is the LabVIEW example provided by Krontech reworked to have some better programming style, e.g. using an event driven user interface instead of parallel loops, ...
  • getScreenshotJPEG reads the live preview as JPEG file. By default it saves a file "chronos.jpg" to the system's temporary folder
  • getScreenshotPicture using the above to display a small preview image withing LabVIEW. The size of the image could be scaled as required.

For all examples the default IP address is the one the camera will get connected over USB using the RNDIS driver.

Do you have anything for LABVIEW 2009?

Thank you!

Thank you for sending what i've been looking through all morning. These are all ways to connect using a network. I am wanting to connect only via micro usb. The data cannot touch the internet.

Thanks.

Chronos User Discussion / Computer Controlled Chronos (non-internet)

Hi,
I feel like this has to be posted somewhere but I can't seem to find it! Is there a way to control the Chronos & save data with & to a computer without using internet/ethernet? If so, are there instructions listed somewhere?
Thank you!

Chronos User Discussion / Custom Color Matrix
« on: December 02, 2020, 05:56:12 AM »
Hi!
I am looking for any kind of information regarding the custom color matrix. I can't seem to find anything online about it at all and the manual just says you need to be a master white balancer to use it without any other kind of info about it... I felt like I was pretty well versed in white balancing but it appears not!
Thank you!

Chronos User Discussion / White Balance in 2.1 Issues
« on: May 27, 2020, 06:22:25 AM »
Hi, I am having some issues with white balancing. I used a white card to set a custom white balance and then took an image of a color checker. Why does it look so awful? I did not change anything from the white balance set up to the color checker image.
TIA
Laura

The 1.4's don't have this issue. But I will go grab a couple of raws...
Could you elaborate on why this happens? I'm having a difficult time finding anything online about it.

22
When the camera's shutter is "closed" it ignores most, but not all, light. This is due to something called parasitic sensetivity, which is how sensetive the sensor is while it is "closed." The image sensor in the 2.1 is affected by this much more than the one in the 1.4; its parasitic sensetivity is 10-20 times higher than on the 1.4.
The 2.1 was really intended to be used with longer shutter times, as in filmmaking. When very short shutter times are used, the light from parasitic sensetivity can actually become visible, as in your 640x120 picture. That is what causes the blur.
Thank you. I'm glad to know it isn't something I was doing. But is this something that can be helped by changing the software? I'd imagine not since the culprit is the sensor. But we didn't purchase the 2.1 for "filmmaking." It seems i've run into issue after issue with the 2.1. It is a great "filmmaking" camera. But hardly comparable (for us anyway) to the 1.4. The slightly larger sensor size does not make it worth having when given all these other issues we've had with it.

23
The 1.4's don't have this issue. But I will go grab a couple of raws...

24
Drop speed is the same...and results are consistent. I'm about to go take a 1.4 and see if it does the same.

25
Hi, is the Actuall Shutter Speed exactly the Same in both Cases, or is it just the Same Shutter angle?
For Identical Shutter angles, this would make Sense, since Exposure changes with framerate (BTW. Does Image Brightness change at lower FPS Settings, when leaving all other Settings and Lens Settings / Light the Same?), if the Shutter Speed is displayed the Same for both cases, and one has motion blur, the other not, this would really be Strange...?

Thank you for your response... I've attached some images of what i'm seeing...the sharper image is from a 19k fps, 640x120 (1.00us and 7 degree shutter) and the one with motion blur is with the 5k fps, 800x480 (1.00us 1degree shutter)...

Hi,
I am working with a 2.1 and am having some issues with motion blur.

I am not lacking in light so the exposure is as low as possible as for obtaining the sharpest images...

I can only get images without blur at frame rates above 10k fps.

But with the same set 1.0us exposure, the images I get out of anything lower than 10k fps have definite motion blur.

If the shutter speed is the same, why am I having blur? What part of this am I missing?

I would love to have a lower fps & higher res but there's no point if there's blur...

Thank you in advance!

Software Dev / Re: Chronos V0.4.0 Beta - Debian and Networking
« on: April 10, 2020, 11:59:34 AM »
I'm sorry, I've gotten lost in this thread. Can someone clear this up for me? Is there a new update to the 1.4 and/or 2.1 that is stable? I have one of both but i'm hesitant to try to change anything on them as we are in the middle of things that are difficult to set up/tear down. The last time I was able to simply plug the camera in with an ethernet cable and download the update. Is this different now?
Thank you,
Laura

Chronos User Discussion / Re: Chronos 2.1 FPS>5406???
« on: February 19, 2020, 11:28:26 AM »
This is the first posting in the forum of the "Introducing the Chronos 2.1 HD!" thread. It says it right there also. And also here is a datasheet FROM CHRONOS that includes it as well. Their UPDATED data sheet has CHANGED this number to 24046!

Introducing the extremely anticipated Chronos 2.1!

Featuring a new 2.1 gigapixel/second sensor capable of 1080 HD resolution at 1000FPS with a maximum frame rate of 100,000 FPS.

Now sports Nikon F and Canon EF lens compatibility.

Chronos 2.1 features an LCD display that is slightly over 3x the brightness of Chronos 1.4. At 1000 nits, Chronos 2.1 makes for significantly better viewing of the camera controls when filming outdoors.

Attached is a full datasheet of Chronos 2.1.

Thank you both for your responses. You are right, yes, I received a response from Kronos also saying there would be an update at the end of the month. Then I asked about the promise of 100k fps. And haven't heard anything back. And since it's no longer on the kronos site anywhere, i'm wondering if this was also a false promise.

There are still multiple articles up from last year about how the 2.1 would get up to 100k fps. Which is the main reason why I wanted to upgrade and spend the extra money. Not because of the larger sensor/better quality. I need the higher frame rates. As with the 1.4 I'm sure it is possible that software could eventually get it there but I don't like being sold something under the premise that it will already be capable of these speeds and then receive a camera that as far as fps goes, is far behind the 1.4.

Software Dev / Re: Chronos V0.3.2 full release

Hi,
Can or should this update be added to the 2.1? Hi,

We just received our 2.1 and I am not able to get to any lower resolutions than 640x480 and thus am not able to get any faster rates than 5406fps. With our 1.4 we were able to get to much lower resolutions/higher fps. I have tried adjusting all settings to see if there was any change whatsoever but I have not been able to find a solution.

Thank you in advance for your help.
