Chronos User Discussion / Chronos 2.1 lenses
« on: February 05, 2020, 09:05:41 AM »
There was already some discussion about lenses on other topic but I thought that this subject deserves it's own topic. I have been too busy to think about what lens to get and now the camera just arrived and I don't have anything suitable to film with it :D Only lens that I have is my dad's old russian 500mm mirror lens that would be probably something like 2000 mm with the crop factor taken into account. I think I have to do at least one video with the combination still :D

I think I don't want to just use some Nikon glass with always wide open hack so I have to find totally manually controllable lens and it would be probably good to be at least f 2.8

With regular cameras I use quite often prime lenses since there is enough pixels to zoom in on edit when necessary on 4k image but that's not option here so probably have to find zoom lens and it ain't going to cheap with these specs probably :D If anybody has good recommendations those are welcome.

I just realized that you don't need to buy any expensive plugins to generate missing frames to rise your frame rate in editing. Premier pro has this tool called optical flow that does just that. Here is example video that I made the first clips of each slow motion sequence are played out around 12.5 fps and the software generates every other frame to make that smooth 25 fps https://youtu.be/A6nvM7pYBGc?t=2m25s

I did also same trickery for some 500 fps footage out from 4k phantom camera and if you use 50% speed for the footage, have around 90 degree or faster shutter and simple background it seems to be working really well!

I think I try next to use this same tool for something like 15 000 fps chronos footage and try to make it 30 000 - 40 000 fps footage.

Chronos User Discussion / Macro lens suggestions
« on: June 15, 2017, 01:29:30 AM »
I have the general purpose 12.5-75mm lens for my Chronos and it's great for most of things that I film but I think I could use macro lens for some projects also. I think it would be good to have as short minimum focusing length since I am working sometimes quite small rooms so filming far away with lens that just zooms in with the small sensor isn't good option.
