Chronos User Discussion / Never-ending save
« on: May 28, 2021, 07:15:24 AM »
I filmed something at approx 10486(640x240)fps today, but when I went to save it to the SD card (mp4 format) it never finished. it just went round and round the buffer never finishing. (see attached screenshot) I powered off the camera to see if anything useful had been written to the SDcard but but although there was an MP4 file with the right date on it, it's not readable. Oddly, it might be about the right size but I can't get anything to open it annoyingly.

It wasn't anything critical (nothing I do is critical :), but it was worrying.

Chronos User Discussion / Focus adjustment
« on: December 19, 2020, 02:39:41 AM »
I'm using exclusively Nikon-mount (Tamron, Sigma and a couple of real Nikon) lenses with a FotoDiox 'pro' adaptor (the one with the blue stop-down ring) and have been having focussing oddities so I decided to try out the back-focus adjustment as detailed in the manual.

I started turning the mount with the lens focussed on infinity and pointing at a remote tree as described. I turned it and turned it and turned it and turned it. It was getting nearer, I could tell, but it was sticking quite far out of the camera now and when it was very near (but still not right) there must have been a whole centimetre of thread visible! I thought leaving it like this might not be a good idea, given the weight of most of the lenses and the strain that must put on the mount, so I put it back in again and gave up. I'd rather have erratic focussing than a broken camera.

Was I doing something wrong? is there another adjustment I can make or a shim I need to put in place to get decent focussing - or even a different Cmount to Nikon adaptor? My main problem at the moment is the 'infinity' is at the point marked about 2m on the lens, yes really,  and I can't get very close to anything with it in focus.

How are other people with Nikon lenses getting on?

Chronos User Discussion / Nikon Battery
« on: September 25, 2020, 08:37:29 AM »
Hi,

I got hold of a real Nikon EL4a battery, but it doesn't fit in my Chronos 2.1HD! it goes in the compartment, but doesn't seem to engage with the contacts and the door won't close. Any ideas?

Chronos User Discussion / Timekeeping
« on: August 02, 2020, 08:35:22 AM »
My Chronos 2.1HD seems very bad at keeping time. I shot some footage yesterday (1st August) and noticed everything was date-stamped "yesterday" (as in 31st July), so I set the clock to the right time and date, and the clips I did after that were fine.

When I went out this afternoon (2nd August) my clips were date-stamped 1st August at 04:12(am) and onwards.

Is this normal?

I just got my Chronos 2.1HD yesterday and am really impressed! I need to work it a little while to really get the hang of it, of course.

However it doesn't seem to like recording at widths less than 1024. If I select (eg) 800x600 then the display just goes black and nothing gets recorded. The same goes for 640x anything. It works for higher speeds if the width is 1024 or 1280 but I prefer more 'square' aspect rations than the long thin type.

Is this something you've seen, and can it be fixed?
