A productive summer with lightning and the 1.4 so far, here are a couple of highlights from St. Louis and Chicago:

Those are some awesome lightning clips. Did you film this with some sort of waterproof case or inside through a window?

I got some quite nice shots on newest press videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IboZ0j9-F30 This time I used also enough lights and it sure makes a difference.

Cool video! The quality and lowlight on the 2.1 is really beautiful.

Nice shots! My fave part was when the water drop fell at the 0:30 mark. What was your frame rate and did you shoot MP4?

Greetings Chronos 1.4 users. Just wanted to share a couple of screen grabs of some 1280 X 1024 files upscaled to 4K (before going through artifact reduction in Vegas Pro and Acrovid) of a hummingbird project I've been working on the last two weeks (video should be up in a week or two). You'll see a before and after zoomed in at 50%, 100 % and 200% respectively (you can click on each pic individually to see the full quality pic) Usually after I upscale, I also do some artifact reduction with Neat Video 5 and Acrovid. Of course the upscales will never compare to something shot in true 4K, but with careful editing and cleanup, you can really bring out and improve the image. I always recommend shooting in DNG if you want the best quality output with less banding. Also, remember these are zoomed in just to illustrate the upscale effect. If you're viewing this from a normal viewing distance, the result is decent.

Yeah, I first process the DNGís and export them to TIFF.

Nice upscaling test! Iíve been having great results with VEAI as well. I should have more up soon this week. Did you shoot DNG or MP4?

I think they're observing Canadian holiday over there and should be back tomorrow. I got an automated email from them on Friday saying they're out on holiday

Just curious. How many hours of battery life are you getting on yours?

You could try adding film grain if you want to get less banding after denoising.

Nice test shot.  :) Looks pretty clean. Thanks again for sharing.

You could probably change the color in black and white in a video editor? It be cool if they can do it in camera though.

So this is one of my first Chronos 1.4 8K upscaling tests with Topaz VEAI. This was a challenge to edit because my laptop struggles with 8K even though it easily edits 4K (NVIDIA GTX 1080 Mobile GPU and i7 8700K CPU). However, I thought it was worth it when I looked at the final results. Using Gaia CG I was able to upscale the 1280 X 1024 to 7680 X 6144 decently. I think this upscale shows how flexible the Chronos 1.4 DNGs are. All the clips were shot at 1,000 FPS. There are two videos below. One is the 8K upscaled version and the other is the 1280 X 1024 version so you can compare the original and the upscaled versions.

Shooting some ballistic gel* in slow motion!

*okay, it's just normal jelly... so that an airsoft BB can actually penetrate it :D

Without any artificial light... on a cloudy rainy day. Still okay, but I miss my lights. I forgot them when I visited my parents home last month ::)
When I have my lights back, I want to experiment with this DAIN motion thing :)

Nice shots Luke! What was the framerate that you used? Cool to see how the jelly moves in slowmo. 👍
Yes, I think youíll like DAIN. Takes some experimentation to get good results but itís worth it.
