Chronos User Discussion / Shooting Actionsports with the chronos 1.4

Hey guys I was just wonder if there was anyone else shooting action sports with the chronos 1.4?
I have shot some surfing and kitesurfing with a coming to ef adapter ( my adapter is terrible, need to get a nice one)
I have mainly been using my canon 300mm 2.8 converterted from fed to ef manual lens with an equipment of something close to 1200~mm
I also tried my 800mm which is a bit too gnarly
I am usin a scactler video 18p
I have been shooting 720p at 1500fps and 800fps to almost double my buffer time
I found that when shooting pro surfing at tressles I would have to prioritize what part of the wave to record because I couldn’t get the whole wave,  I have the 8second larger record time Camera
With 800fps which is probably fast enough for most action sports I was able to get more of the wave and the. Pick some inns and outs and save them
I defiantly want to have another stills camera around my neck or a greedybar with another Camera set up on it so while it’s saving I’m not complety missing everything

Hey David,
i am having my water housing made and want to get a grasp of what controls i will need
like we talked about before is there a mode we can make that makes it so you can just trigger a recording and then have it automatically save the whole buffered clip,
that way it is slow to save but at least you dont need to mess around will going though the play menu while in the water to save
i assume that i would have the camera all ready powered on, resolution set, black calibration done and white balance set before putting it into the housing.
it would be nice to be able to have the camera off with those setting saved(so you don't waste all your battery while getting ready to get into the water, and then just power up with last framerate, black cal, white balance set
interested to see what we can do

hey guys im going to be shooting water housing in the surf for wave shots and surfing
im looking for the look of a wide fisheye, and am trying  to guess what might work best
i have been adapting to ef for my longer lenses with good results, thee 300mm2.8 cannon is a dream at 1200mm @2.8 for tripod work
im looking at native c or cs mount for the fisheye to get it small and wide enough
im looking at https://www.amazon.com/Fujinon-FE185C086HA-1-C-Mount-Fisheye-Cameras/dp/B00HSY339Q/ref=pd_day0_421_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00HSY339Q&pd_rd_r=ZBTZY60JTQ288HJV32QC&pd_rd_w=BX2ya&pd_rd_wg=rNUkb&psc=1&refRID=ZBTZY60JTQ288HJV32QC

and the https://www.amazon.com/Fujinon-FE185C057HA-1-C-Mount-Fish-Eye-Cameras/dp/B00OBMP4IG/ref=sr_1_42?srs=3028911011&ie=UTF8&qid=1508108859&sr=8-42

worked well with the enter, shot some 500 fps and 800fps today at the surf contest to get the whole wave into one trigger

Getting to shoot the Hurley Pro in San Clemente
loving the camera
the screen is super dim for focusing in bright light, focus peaking is decent but need the HDMI out in next firmware to hook up an eyepiece for outdoor action shooting
having to find shade and hide under a towel to see what I'm doing
the camera has locked up on me probably 4-5 times in shooting all day every day this week, needing a restart
it would be great to have a kelvin temp selector for setting white balance if you don't have a white card
would also be good to be able to save settings for things like focus peaking color and intensity
just read the forum on how to change frame rates going to try that tomorrow
