The cable you are currently using https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N1KYP7U?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
provides power through the USB only.

You need to use a eSATA to SATA Cable that provides power through eSata. You can see an image of the cable here: https://www.krontech.ca/product/esata-to-sata-cable/

Thanks. The problem is that the updating process won't go further than that screenshot that I attached. From reading the manual I would expect it to lead to a "install now yes/no button" pop up after that. But it is just stuck there... far longer than 3 minutes.

Hi! I'm saving tiffs to a 480GB Sandisk SSD Plus via eSata. I thought this was the recommended method, but how is everyone getting their videos onto their computers? Right now i'm switching out the cables (from a 22pin SATA/esata cable to a 22pin SATA/usb cable)...which I worry is going to break down the SSDs pins over time. I tried this cable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N1KYP7U?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) but then the hard drive doesn't show up on the camera or the computer...any advice is very much appreciated!!
Thank you!!
Laura

If your drive isn't showing up, it might not be getting enough power.

I use an eSATA cable with my Chronos 2.1 and a TEAMGROUP GX2 Solid State Drive. Luckily haven't had any issues with connectors breaking.

Hi everyone!

I bought my Chronos 2.1HD about 2 years ago and was wondering if there was an firmware upgrade in the meantime.

When I connect my Chronos to the Ethernet cable that feeds my PC with internet I only get to the point where the Chronos is
"Updating Package Lists" but not beyond...

There is also a lot of 404s in that log shown, so I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong or if
the files no longer exist on the server my Chronos wants to access...

When I load the 32gb SD card with the latest image file from this thread via Elenabatcher there is no local drive showing up in the Chronos either.

Any ideas?

Best regards

Dominik

I believe the 404s you're noticing are because the Debian packages it's trying to download were archived and moved to a different address. It's probably fine to ignore those 404s- the Chronos firmware packages should still update successfully.

Alternatively you could follow the manual updating instructions documented here: https://www.krontech.ca/software-resources/

I've run my 1.4 for about an hour plugged into an inverter powered by a car jumper pack, with more battery life to spare.  Cheap, and it works.  I regularly run my 1.4 for 6-10 hours at a time plugged into an inverter in my car.

If you're looking for an internal battery (EN-EL4A):

Jupio: my favorite, because it lasts the longest (~90 min)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1564339-REG/jupio_bni0003_proline_en_el4_en_el4a_li_ion_battery.html

Kastar: two batteries and a charger costing less than one Jupio, each usually lasts about ~45min for my Chronos 2.1
https://www.amazon.com/Kastar-Charger-Battery-EN-EL4-EN-EL4A/dp/B01LEP353I/

Alternatively you could use an external battery. I've tried a few, and so far my favorites are from FXLION or REYTRIC. These work with the Chronos 4K12 and Q12 models as well.

Chronos User Discussion / Re: View recorded frame rate
« Last post by Rob_G on January 29, 2024, 04:54:20 PM »
Hello Beephe

If you save your videos in h.264 or TIFF format you can enable the overlay text feature.

After capturing a video, press the Play button, then the Settings button. Check the Text Overlay box. This feature remains enabled until you deselect it again.

Information about each frame’s position within the recording will be overlaid as well as the number of frames recorded.  The information appears at the bottom of each frame of compressed video or TIFF image. You can check the time difference between two contiguous frames to determine the interframe time. The inverse of this gives you the framerate.

This can be useful sometime later in case you forget the framerate used to capture your videos.
