Hello everybody,

I got a new frame rate comparison done.
It looks like balloons bursting is super fast and only shows details from 10.000 fps upwards.

Filmed a 20mm Fliegerfaust rocket. It uses angled ports to spin the rocket from the exhaust. The frame rate makes the rocket appear to spin counter clockwise, stop and then spin clockwise. It is a stroboscopic effect. Like helicopter rotors spinning the wrong way or reversing direction on a digital camera.

I used some of my 3d printed cal .68 projectiles against some wine glasses.

What lens are you using? All my videos have this hazy look to them like I filmed it with a vhs camcorder.

I used a speed booster to mount my M42 Sigma 600mm f/8 mirror lens and adapted it to micro 4/3. Shot these two video clips on a cloudy and rainy day. Weeds and pigeon are 30 yards away.

Hi all. It's been a while since I posted as I've been doing a lot of testing when it comes to bringing out the best in the Chronos 1.4 files. Here is a clip I shot of a bird taking off at 1500 fps at 1280 X 720P. I upscaled it via Topaz VEAI to 2560 X 1440P and outputted it as an HDR video for Youtube. As some of you may know, Youtube does a pretty bad job when it compresses video files resulting in banding in extreme areas. Upscaling to 4K does help to allow for that higher bit rate for playback, but in extreme gradient or low light, the banding is very noticeable with or without film grain. However, I did some testing when uploading it to Youtube as an HDR file and the banding is almost non-existent (even in extreme gradient and low light areas). Looks like Youtube compresses HDR files much less. If you do have an HDR display definitely view in that mode at 1440P for the best quality and low banding. I'm viewing this in HDR with my Macbook Pro 16" M1 MAX.

Nicely done. I am playing with my 600mm Sigma lens and took it to the local zoo.

@B.H.V: I guess the very clear Separation from the Background helps the Upscaling Software a lot, but that is some Really Impressive Resolution, Sharpness and Especially Fidelity for that coming from a 1.4! Does also not look oversharpened like some Upscaling tends to do sometimes.

@Solcscud007 that's some really nice reach! How's the weight and balance of that lens on the Chronos 1.4?

@Nikon1 Thank you! Yes, Topaz VEAI has had major updates to it this past year, and I'm sure it will get better. There's a lot more finetuning of parameters to avoid oversharpening and artifacts. As long as I don't overdo it or go past 2X upscale, I think it works pretty decently on most scenes. I also use a bit of Neat Video and film grain if I need to even out the image more. I'll post more examples and side by side comparisons in the coming days. : )

@BHV the weight is not that bad. It is 830g or 1.83 lbs.  I am supporting the lens with my left hand so I can pull focus. The DOF is very shallow even at 30-40 yards away. My right hand holds the Chronos. All those video clips were hand held.

@B.H.V: Regards upscaling, i wonder how it would do with some Really Nasty, Busy Background or lot of Random Highlights like Water Drops and Stuff, or even worse Glitter and Stuff like That. Guess that would be about the Worst you could Throw at it. Anything with a Well Blurred out/ Soft Background and Clean Lines should do quite Well for Upscaling, especially if they keep working on it all the Time.

Here's a quick screen record of Topaz VEAI comparing the before and after of raking leaves. Again, not perfect but in my opinion more useable than the original file and pretty decent coming from a 1.4. In the video, it shows the two side by side at normal viewing, and then zoomed in 50% and 100%. At normal viewing, it's more than useable in my opinion. Sometimes, I use anti-moire filters to fight extreme aliasing when I shoot, but I mostly use them on my Sony RX10 IV in the HFR modes since they have more lineskipping and moire compared to the Chronos 1.4.
