Hello all, I recently posted a highlight reel from two years of slow motion lightning video captured with a Chronos 1.4 at 1,500 FPS across the Great Plains & Midwest.

... highlight reel from two years of slow motion lightning ...

Beautiful. I've tried the same but where I live we rarely have clear skies with lightening - almost always socked in.

What lens did you use?

Hoooooolyyy sh..... this looks amazing.
Is this footage edited in some way? I also tried to record lightning but at 1,500 fps it doesn't look nearly as much detail and "slowness" .

Awesome footage!

Thank you!    It's challenging to get lightning shots to work well.   What you're really shooting with high speed is the initial "leaders" which are much dimmer than the main "return stroke" that other cameras are capturing.    These only tend to expose well within a couple of miles distance.

I revisited my ballistic gel tests.

This time I had an air rifle, crossbows and a CO2 Shotgun with home made 3d printed projectiles with me.

It's interesting how much further the little lead diabolos penetrate in comparison to the (medieval) crossbow bolt wich should still have more energy but beeing was fatter
